Adult : Long Term Residential
Long term residential services are for people who manage severe and enduring mental health issues. Commonly people who come to live at Long Term Residential services have spent long periods of time in long-stay hospital wards. Stepping Stone Long term Residential services offers an opportunity to rehabilitate within households that enable residents to hold to safe and robust routines, keep appropriate boundaries, meet expectations of resident participation in the household duties and participate in other meaningful activity.
The majority of Long Term Residential residents range in age from 30- 65 years. Our facilities are fresh, clean and homely. The intake house is based at Somers Place in Spreydon. This is the most intensively staffed house of the Long Term Residential group and has 11 single bed rooms.
There are two other houses of six single bed rooms each, one in Papanui and one in Avonhead. More recently, a flatting option has been added to these. A level of independence is required for people who reside at these houses as access to staff is remote for parts of the day with onsite staffing at other times.
